We are going to live a complete Honduran experience. This class is a celebration of our roots, our flavors, and the warmth of our culture. Here in the Honduran Caribbean, food is an expression of love, community, and history. And that is precisely what we want to share with you.
The Caribbean coast of Honduras is home to a rich cultural mix, comprising the Garífuna, Afro-Caribbean, indigenous, and mestizo communities, whose flavors beautifully combine in the cuisine. The Garífuna people, descendants of ancient Africans, have profoundly shaped our way of cooking. Coconut, cassava, plantains, spices: these are more than just ingredients; they are symbols of resilience and joy. Cooking together, we will not only prepare food, but we will also honor tradition.
What to expect from the Cooking Class?
This is a Hands-on preparation of authentic Honduran/Bay Island dishes, such as the “pastelitos,” a traditional Honduran snack, and learn step-by-step the process. The second meal will consist of preparing a delicious stewed chicken in coconut milk and plantains. The recipes of both meals will be available on the day of the tour and can be downloaded using a QR code available at the cooking class facilities. We will have products available for purchase, including Honduran vanilla, Guifity traditional drink, organic coffee, and spices.
Dietary Restrictions?
Please let us know via email about your dietary restrictions, this will help our staff be prepared with all ingredients and adapt the cooking class to your needs. Dietary restrictions are limitations on what a person can eat, often due to health conditions, allergies, religious beliefs, or lifestyle choices. These restrictions can range from avoiding specific ingredients like gluten or dairy to following a completely plant-based or restricted-calorie diet. Understanding these restrictions is crucial for our cooking staff when preparing meals for groups or individuals.
The Recipes
The recipe for both dishes will be available via a QR code on the day of the tour. Free Wi-Fi access is also available and will be shared by our staff.
Minimum and Maximum Guests
The cooking experience requires a minimum of 6 guests; the maximum number of guests will be 12. Ages 14+ years can participate in the tour.
